Gaps and Their Causes

Higher acceptability of dating violence among male students as compared to female students, lack of understanding towards those who stay in violent relationships (Jefferson Karthikeyan Rajah, 2017 "A Preliminary Study of Awareness of and Attitudes Towards Dating Violence Amongst National University of Singapore Students" in Heartbeats)

Youths generally perceived themselves to be resistant to sex, have a relatively positive view of the media regarding sexual messages, are generally uncomfortable discussing intimate issues with parents and other adult figures, and are ambivalent about the views of these significant adults. (2007 study by Amanda Yow Lin, Fei Yue Community Services, "Sexual Involvement in Youths: Factors and Needs" in YouthSCOPE – A Journal of Youth Research Studies in Singapore, Issue 2, Year 2007).
